Long Hill Auto Service: Good Service and Good Fuel EconomyPosted January 24, 2017 8:51 AMMost Millington auto owners want to save on gas and seek our advice on improving economy. At Long Hill Auto Service, we are frequently asked, however, if it is really worth the extra effort. Just how much money can Millington drivers actually save?
DOLLARS PER GALLON $3.00 / $3.50 / $4.00 TUNE UP 4%.12.14.16 The next item is replacing a clogged engine air filter. Your engine needs enough air to burn fuel efficiently for the best mileage. A clean air filter means you get plenty of air. The fact that the air's clean protects your engine. That can save you up to 10 percent or 35 cents a gallon.
DOLLARS PER GALLON$3.00 / $3.50 / $4.00 AIR FILTER 10%.30.35.40 Fixing a faulty oxygen sensor can improve economy by up to 40 percent. That's a whopping $1.40 in savings per gallon. Bring your car to Long Hill Auto Service in Millington and we'll check your oxygen sensor.

Here's an easy one for Millington auto owners. Inflate your tires to the recommended pressure. That could save you three percent or 11 cents a gallon. Even a little drop in pressure will bring down your economy, so check your tires every week.
DOLLARS PER GALLON$3.00 / $3.50 / $4.00 TIRE INFLATION 3%.09.11.12 Your vehicle has recommended a specific weight of motor oil. The recommendation is based on engine design and will give you the best protection. Using a heavier weight could cost one to two percent in reduced economy, or up to seven cents a gallon. Another thing Millington vehicle owners can do to improve that costs nothing is to toss the junk out of our trunks. In other words, clean out the car and stop hauling around non-essentials. Don't treat your vehicle like a storage locker. Dumping 100 pounds of extra weight adds up to a 2% savings at the pump. Long Hill Auto Service
Millington Safety Systems: Tire Pressure Monitoring SystemPosted January 15, 2017 7:32 AMFlats, blow outs, skids and longer stopping distances can all be the result of driving around Millington on underinflated tires. Admittedly, it's hard to tell when a radial tire is underinflated. If your vehicle manufacturer recommends 35 pounds of pressure, your vehicle tires are considered significantly underinflated at 26 pounds. The tire may not look low until it gets below 20 pounds. Your safety has always been a priority at Long Hill Auto Service. We want you on the road and accident free. We've traditionally provided things like tire rotations, snow tire mounting and flat fixes at a very low cost. We've been able to quickly and cheaply provide the service and pass the low cost on to you as an expression of our good will. Like all other Millington service centers, here at Long Hill Auto Service we've had to purchase new scanning equipment to work with the TPMS sensors and to update expensive tire change equipment to better service wheels equipped with the new monitoring systems. Our friendly and knowledgeable service technicians at Long Hill Auto Service have been thoroughly trained on many systems and new tire-changing techniques. All of this adds up to significantly increased cost to perform what was once a very inexpensive service for you. So when you start so see the cost of tire changes, flat repairs and rotations going up at Long Hill Auto Service, please keep in mind that it's because of government mandated safety equipment. We want to keep you safely on the road – and we're committed to doing it at a fair price. This safety equipment will help you avoid the most common types of vehicle failure in Millington, and possibly a catastrophic accident. Long Hill Auto Service
Braking News: Keep Your Stopping PowerPosted January 8, 2017 7:05 AMRichard Petty once told AutoNetTV, “You've gotta have good brakes. If you've got good brakes you can keep yourself out of a lotta trouble.”
If you are experiencing any of these, it's time to get your brakes checked. Talk to your friendly and knowledgeable service advisor at Long Hill Auto Service . If the brake pads wear away completely, you can damage the rotors. The calipers can grind grooves in the rotor. Then the rotor must either be resurfaced or replaced. That's not only expensive but also dangerous because your vehicle won't stop as quickly. Sometimes rotors warp or crack and must be replaced. Come in to Long Hill Auto Service for an brake inspection before damage occurs. You can call ahead for an appointment by calling (908) 647-7984. Long Hill Auto Service Ethics of Automotive Repair in MillingtonPosted January 3, 2017 2:36 AM

Of course, the technician has the burden of making ethical recommendations and properly educating their customers. For the customer, if you are uncomfortable with a recommendation, ask some questions. More information is always a good thing. Long Hill Auto Service | ||

A few weeks back my wife was driving from PA to NYC by herself and started to have some car trouble. She called me from route 78 and I advised her to get off at the next exit and head to the closest repair shop. Thankfully it was Longhill Auto. At the end of their business day they got right on checking the car out, and were gracious with my wife who was having a very stressful experience. They were in touch with me every step of the way. Ultimately performed the necessary repairs and thoroughly test drove the car to give us peace of mind it was in good shape before making the hour plus drive out to pick it up. Would definitely recommend them and even going out of your way to work with them as it isn’t always easy to find a good shop with great people. Darel Cragnolin, 03/13/2024 |

Long Hill Auto is the best auto service shop in the area, hands down. The staff is well trained and highly knowledgeable. Their facility is well organized and cared for, which shows how important it is for them to pay attention to details. Bob runs a great shop that can handle all of your automobile needs. They are friendly, affordable, and have a fast turnaround on their jobs. I don't think it can get much better than that. The Bearded Dragon Games, 01/25/2024 |
